PL Triple Draw lowball hand
5 handed PL dealers choice. Everyone limps in and I make it $5 to go with 23345. Two players call.
I ($150) discard the 3 and catch a deuce. Loosey ($200) draws 2. Button draws 2. I check and it gets checked around. I discard the deuce and catch a 7. Other players both draw 2. I bet $7. Loose player raises to $17. Other player folds. Back to me. . . A bit on the loose player, he plays almost every hand in every game we play, he never bluffs, but sometimes overvalues his hands, particularly two pair in stud/8. Fold, call, or raise? Stand pat or draw 1? |

Re: PL Triple Draw lowball hand
Since he drew two on the second round, if he had a three-card six the chance he hit a six or better is 4%, a seven 4%, and an eight 5%. A tricky player might make a small raise like that with a mediocre hand here to get you to break, but he doesn't sound like that type. Against a calling station like what this guy sounds like, I'd just call. If you think he'd fold a better seven here, then reraise, and fold if he moves in on you, and break your hand if he calls. If you think he'd call your reraise with a better seven, then just call here, stand pat, check and call the river if he stands pat, and check and fold if he breaks and bets large. (All of this assumes that you're 100.00000% sure he never bluffs.)

Re: PL Triple Draw lowball hand
Make sure you always play Deuce to Seven. Far better game and you have the nuts.
All loose players bluff. They have to in order to survive. |

Re: PL Triple Draw lowball hand
I realize your response is slightly tongue in cheek, but isn't drawing to a 2345 in deuce-7 a poor idea?
And this loose player has never shown a bluff, yet, I believe he survives by the horseshoe and rabbit foot that are crammed firmly up his arse. |

Re: PL Triple Draw lowball hand
Alright heres the play and I assume your are playing A-5 since I saw no explanation of KC lowball.
He has position on you lets turn that around on him, you have to act first on the draw. If he is loose and aggressive here, I smooth call, I'm out of position and I am GOING TO RAP PAT HERE. Depending on what he draws I go from there. If he raps pat and he's aggressive, i'll check and call a reasonable bet. If he draws one, I value bet $25.00. That should make him call with a worse seven or a smooth eight. If I thought I could hollywood ad get him not to raise the river I would bet $25.00 into him on the river, would look like a slowplay of a wheel or a smooth 6 by just calling his raise and selling it on the river because you thought he would fold to a reraise but still wanted to get some money out of him. The stop and go would have some merit inthat situation. Makes you lose less when behind, and you win more when you're ahead. Lots of players are reluctant to raise on the river in that situation fearing the slowplayed monster. You can't break the seven in that situation. I made someone break an eight the other night in a 3-6 online game in your precise situation and the whiffed and I took the pot. |
