Default Old & New Bonuses at Pokerroom the same at 2/4

I've been trying to justify why I keep playing at Pokerroom given its high rake, but I discovered that bonuses are about as easy to clear under the new system (10x) as they were under the old system (7x) while playing 2/4 full ring. The stats that follow come from Poker Tracker.

I played 6,807 hands of 2/4 under the old bonus system (7x; 1 PP for $1 or higher rake, 0.5 PP for rake between $0.50 and $0.99). I earned 3,426.5 player points. This means that the average player points per dealt hand is .503. I need 1400 player points to clear a $200 bonus. Thus I would need to play 2,783 dealt hands (1400 / .503).

I played 7,722 hands of 2/4 under the new bonus system (10x; 0.7 PP for every $0.10 of rake). The average rake per dealt hand (not per flopped hand) is .983. That means you earn .688 PP per dealt hand. You now need to clear 2,000 player points for that same $200 bonus, so that means you need to play 2,907 dealt hands (2000 / .688).

All of these calculations depend on the accuracy of the player point per dealt hand statistic, which I think becomes more relevant the more hands you play.

So, you do end up playing 124 more hands for that same $200 bonus under the new bonus system, but the difference between it and the old system was probably not as bad as you thought. Of course, you're paying over 50% higher rake than you did under the old rake/bonus system too.
