You dont know he has the ace he could have a PP and check behind if you check.

a pp is unlikely as it will usually 3bet the flop or pop the turn. that is, if he doesn't have 55-77, but those aren't usually in a 3betting range for a typical opponent.

checking also lets him bluff hands like KQ or KJ that won't call a bet.

Yes if he is aggressive enough probably, but maybe not with a hand like 99 or TT or 66...

Those hands should have folded on the turn and those loose enough to call turn with them are usually not aggressive enough too bluff here IMO.

Basically you can win 0 or 2 bets by checking. Betting makes you 1 or 3 bets. Oversimplification, sure but I think bet/3bet is clearly better.
