Wouldn\'t it be fair.....
Wouldn't it be fair to raise any unopened pot with a hand that is statistically in a certain level that is less then the percentage of the table you represent?
Ok maybe I didn’t word that right because I wasn’t positive how to but I’ll give an example. Ok say you were UTG in a ten handed game, wouldn’t it be fair to raise with A-8s since it’s statistically in the top 10 percent of hands and you make up 10 percent of the table? I don’t know maybe I have a huge error in my thought process but I was just wondering? |

Re: Wouldn\'t it be fair.....
Your logic is flawed by the fact that your hand will, in all likelyhood, be called and dominated by better cards whenever someone possesses a hand of a higher caliber.

Re: Wouldn\'t it be fair.....
One concept that a lot of people miss with regards to hand strength is that most hands don't go to showdown. If some guy calls you in LP with QTs you are a pretty big favorite but when the flop comes J83 with a flush draw for him he's going to end up taking it down more often than you will.
You want to raise PF when you have a good chance of winning post flop, and a huge part of that is position. Bloating up a pot that you are unlikely to be able to win without seeing a very cheap showdown when you are OOP is pretty bad practice. |
