Default top 2 on a 3 heart flop..

50-100 full

UTG is a loose maniac. He raises. I'm UTG+1 and 3bet AJs. All fold to the CO who caps. CO is a mediocre player, he is too loose, cold calls too often, etc. I suspect his hand range here is fairly small, but might include stuff like TT or AJ. Possibly a bit worse.

Anyways, the flop is A J 4, all hearts.

Check, check, CO bets, UTG and I both call.

turn is Qc. UTG bets and I raise.

Thoughts? I don't really like how I played it.

I like a flop lead here as well.

Bet the flop with top two pair, even on that board. Though if you're gonna check, it had better be to checkraise both those clowns.

I think that you must bet out on this flop. It is very likely that: a) you are ahead here, and b) one of your opponents has a high [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in their hand.

You must charge your opponents the maximum possible and this is done by lead, 3-betting the flop. Another possible flop line is check-raising, then possibly 4-betting.

Obviously you chose to see if the turn was a dud before you raised, but based on your description of the players, you could have extracted a lot of value from them on the flop. The way you played it though, you must raise the turn. The problem is that now AQ and QQ have taken you over, and QQ would more than likely have folded to any heavy action on the flop (unless he had the Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], which is a 2/3 chance).

I just wonder what you would have done if you were 3-bet on the turn? Say you call that, what if the river flushes?

Lastly, I must say that I've never played this high and maybe my points aren't that valid, so take them for whatever you think they're worth.

What's the plan if a heart drops on the turn?
