Default Are Most Swedes Incapable of a Cogent Political Discusion?

Lately a certain Swede has been posting quite often in this forum yet seems incapable of posting anything useful or at least both coherent and on topic. Some may say the same about me, if you feel that way please feel free to start your own thread and do not hijack this one.

I postulate that living (and being born in) in Sweden one may simply be incapable of understanding the intricate thought processes involved when discussing politics in America. This could be considered a handicap of sorts but since he is not an American I don't fear any repercussions from the ACLU by criticizing his mental acuity.

Perhaps this post is more of a rant than anything else but if you have a strong opinion one way or the other (and you are not Swedish) I welcome the chance to discuss other opinions.

Default What about IL Mostro (aka the Mad Swede)?

Although he and I rarely agree, he is respectful and usually supports his positions with a reasoned argument.

I like hearing the opinions of the non-Americans on the board. Although it is quite rare when I can find any common ground with them. It does give me a mini-insight of the different perspectives on world politics.

By the way, who is that chick on your avatar?
I like the way she dances.

Default Most Europeans are TOTALLY Ignorant about.........

...American Conservatism.

In the USA we have talk radio (Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity, Michael Savage, G.Gordon Liddy, etc...) which does a good job of explaining conservatism and why modern liberalism has failed. We also have Fox News which presents two sides of issues and lets the viewer decide...

Europeans do not have access to the same information and their opinions are heavily influenced by their media. As a result many suffer from a group-think hive-mentality. The simply do NOT have the same choice of information that we Americans have... And European leaders like Chirac pass laws making expressing unpopular viewpoints to be called hate speech and therefore subject to fines and imprisonment.

There is only one solution for the English Speaking Europeans, we need to go to www.rushlimbaugh.com and buy them a year subscription to Rush24/7. Let "El Rushbo" lead those European heathens to the fountain of knowledge so they may quench their thirsty lips for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Perhaps we should start an Adopt-an-European fund to collect donations so they can listen to Rush 24/7.
I'll donate $1......

Default Re: Are Most Swedes Incapable of a Cogent Political Discusion?

The intricacies of politics in America were most recently publicly discussed by Geroge Bush and Nancy Pelosi, so the mental acumen to do so can't be too demanding.

If a particular Swede doesn't discuss politics in an apt or coherent way, by your reckoning, why would you postulate that all Swedes couldn't do so? That would be the same thing as my postulating that all Republicans don't know how to pronounce the word "nuclear" just because the President doesn't. Or that they all governors think Hubert Humphrey was a Communist because the governor of California said he was.

Don't to OOT much? She was all the rage about a week ago. Some French singer named Alizee. I've always been about a week behind the times.
