Default Eggheads......help!

Let me start by saying I mean that in the nicest way.

Ok, I'm stupid and installed the SP2 onto my system. My DSL provider had come out with updates to become compatible with the software because it was causing problems for several people so I downloaded that too.

Major problems insued. Couldn't pull up my DSL (MS firewall I think) major lag....blah blah blah.

I said fuk it and did an uninstall of the pack after about a week of frustration.

The thing is I'm still having major lag on pulling up pages, surfing etc.

Any suggestions on what's wrong or did I really screw the pooch?

Any help is appreciated. I'm running slower than dial up and have no clue as to how to fix the snafu.

- Did you try using you DSL after installing SP2 but before the DSL updates?
- Did/can you uninstall the updates from your DSL provider?
- Who's your DSL provider?

SP2's uninstall/rollback worked pretty cleanly for me (to my suprise). It may be that the DSL updates are what screwed you.

I used my sytem for a few days before getting the email from SBC Yahoo! (provider) The main problem that I was having at that time is not being able to log in consistently or pull up various websites. I think I need to go and find the "update" file and make sure I deleted it too.

Thanks for the troubleshooting. I'm gonna tinker with it a little longer and then if no luck contact SBC.

If all else fails, you can also reinstall Windows without reformatting your hard drive. Also if you had the computer built for you there will be a CD With all the motherboard'd drivers try reloading that... It seems as much as I use my computer and install new crap I have to reload my motherboard's drivers at least one time per month.

Good Luck..

I would say to contact SBC sooner rather than later. They probably had a lot of other people run into the same problem, and hopefully have a answer ready to go.
