Default Golden Nugget Dealers

My girlfriend and I made our first trip to the Golden Nugget, and man, I never seen so many bad dealers in one place. Maybe it's the fact that many of them are new, but the errors were just so blatant such as 1) numerous misdealings 2) skipping over players, 3) and misreading the hands in showdowns.

It got so ridicolous and the players started running the games, which didn't make for an enjoyable experience..I'm sure with practice...they'll get better...

Weren't we hearing "they should get better" during the WSOP? I guess that wasn't that long ago, but I mean, hold'em is not that complicated to learn. I would think if I spent forty hours a week dealing, I'd stop misreading hands and such after a couple of weeks.

Mabe thats why your not a dealer. MM said in one of his Poker Essays books that most people could deal better than current dealers but often do better(make more) doing what thay do(CEO mentality, I can do your job better, but I make 50 times what you make). I am not making any excuse for poor dealing, just stating what I see.

Hah.

Certainly the way it works in the computer biz. Why doesn't the person on the support line know what he/she is talking about? Because they don't get paid enough to pull their heads out of their butts.

I'm always impressed by the number of rules, both meaningful and just arbitrary, that casino dealers have to abide by. Speaking from the position of being decently paid in a different career path, it's always hard for me to believe that people will be willing to put up with so much rigid BS for so little money.

Then again, that's the law of inverse slack: The amount of slack your job affords you is generally inversely proportional to the amount you make. Dealers get exceedingly little slack - either from their management or their customers.
