Music doesn't take up that much space but movie files do.

ummm, i have no movie files, but I would say music files do take up lots of space, like 13 gigs...

If I were you I would just reinstall everything and start fresh. But you are not gonna do that.

yeah I think this is what Im gonna do. probably get a new hardrive first to save the stuff I need onto and the reformat. these are the directions sthief gave me for reformating, does this sound right to you?

sthief: do you have your restore disk
me: i think so
sthief: you just
sthief: put it in
sthief: restart your computer
sthief: when its restarting hit F12
sthief: itll go into a screen asking what you want to boot to
sthief: choose cd-rom drive
sthief: itll restart
sthief: you say you want to install windows
sthief: then you delete the partition thats there
sthief: and install in it
sthief: and youre done

I do not do it like that but it might work. I never had any restoration disk or anything like that. I use the original installation cd. I just pop it in the drive and boot from it. I chose to format the c: partition and then install the new os there. Removing the partition and making a new one adds nothing.

Disk Clean up
Defrag

go to www.pcpitstop.com and run a full system scan

That will tell you everything you need to know about what is slowing down your PC.
