Not the right to the internet big guy, they are allready have the internet, but the right to surf the web to what ever site they please, since you said they pay for it. The fact that it's government funded is why this could be an issue. By the way i wasn't saying that it's unconstitutional just throwing the idea out there.

Crazy idea? Find a friend with his machine hooked up to high speed internet (off campus), install the windows remote manager (standard on XP), so you can access his XP to XP box. Then while you are remoted into his machine and controlling his mouse, log into pokerstars and play off that. It would just be a window with in a window but it would work.

Yeah, thats a crazy idea, but if you are living on that dorm, and want to play Stars, might be a viable option.

woudln't this violate some kind of constitutional right since MSU is funded by the government?

No.

I was talking to a network security officer for a major public university about online poker a couple of months ago. He was skeptical about it in general ("Can you trust these sites?"), but had no plans to pull the plug on them. He said that they block very little due to concerns about intellectual freedom.

My friend and I tried to allay his concerns about the sites, but I got the impression he wasn't completely convinced. Suspicion is probably a good trait to have in a network security officer.
