Mattresses and Pillows

I really want to purchase an extremely comfortable new mattress and pillow, but have come to realize this is a more difficult process than i'd expected. So many choices and lots of seemingly complicated technology. Now, i'm assuming among all you sick OOTers that at least one of you knows a lot about this stuff, so whats the best choice? The only ones i know of are those that are advertised: Tempur-pedic & Sleep-number. Any other suggestions, reviews, or comments would be highly appreciated.
