$11\'s Bubble w/ JTo
OK, I am having a disagreement w/ some co-workers. Please critique and explain your answer.
If you say fold, what hands do you play here? What if BB stack is larger, say t1000 or t1500 (and bigger stacks are equally reduced)? How does this affect your decision? Thanks BB (t600) SB (t2500) HERO (BTN) (t2500) UTG (t2400) Blinds 100/200 Hero is button w/ JTo UTG folds, HERO? |

Re: $11\'s Bubble w/ JTo
Push and get a showdown w BB or steal his chips. Note - this doesnt really work if SB has no idea how to play the bubble and will be calling w/ the top 30% of hands or something like that. If SB is one of those guys I just raise t600.

Re: $11\'s Bubble w/ JTo
I guess most SB's in the 11s has no idea how to play the bubble. My standard play is t600

Re: $11\'s Bubble w/ JTo
I might be out of line here because im not very good at bubble play but doesnt 3x bet(t600) make it horribly enticing for sb to push in which case bb surely will fold?

Re: $11\'s Bubble w/ JTo
At a higher level, yes indeed. But I doubt most people in the 10s would make a move without a big hand. Furthermore we have almost equal stacks. He would have to risk his tourney, which I doubt he would with a non-premium hand.

Re: $11\'s Bubble w/ JTo
It's not quite, but it is a scenario where if you are effectively paying to have the short stack lose chips.
I don't think you WANT this to happen in this position, I just don't think it's a disaster if it does. The short stack will find it even harder to recover from a stack of 400. Lori |
