Default Top 2 on flush board

Pokerstars 1/2 6max

I am button with AKo. Effective stacks are $200.

UTG limps, folds to me, I raise to $8, only BB (Villain) calls.

I've played a few hands with Villain, seems decent, hasnt done anything out of line yet.

Flop ($18): A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8

Villain bets $10, I raise to $32, Villain calls.

(I think my raise should have been a little bigger here...)

Turn ($80): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Villain checks, I check

River ($80): 3

Villain bets $60, I call

Is this line decent? I feel like betting the turn may have been better. Is the river call standard? Any comments on my line would be appreciated...

I think you should bet the turn to probe too see where you are in the hand. A 1/2 potish bet does the trick here, and if Villian raises, drop it. If he just calls you are giving yourself better odds to call a river bet.

Make it 50 on the flop.

The rest is ok. Villains dont often bet the river with worse hands here though, so we could be clever and fold. Personally - Im not that clever.

Me neither. He tabled QJ [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and MHING.

The flop raise definitely should have been higher, but my other concern is the turn. Is this a standard check behind, or would bet/fold be a viable option?

I prefer to check behind. If he's drawing, he likely just made his draw. Use the turn bet that you don't make, to maybe call the river bet that he makes; saves you $$$, and gives you the chance to spike an A or K.

And what about giving a free card?? Meh.

Is the 8 also a heart?

I call the flop. Make him think you have the nut flush (of course this sucks if he has the nut flush - but what are the chances).
