Default AA bet turn or check behind

Villain just sat down. No read.
100bb for both of us. 50NL

I think I should bet the turn because of the draws. I can't say exactly why I didn't bet the turn. Villain had QJo and won the pot. I still think I need to bet the turn--fold to check raise on the turn; call check or fold on river, depending. Thoughts???

Party Poker (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
2 folds.

One limper. Hero bets 2. Villain in sb calls. BB folds. Limper folds.

Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets 5 into 6.5 pot. SB calls.

Turn: 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

River: 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)

sb bets 12. Hero calls 12.

Final Pot:38.5

This is a reason to bet the turn, prolly bet 12, when the heart came on the river and you put your opponent on the draw why did you pay him off?

I didn't put him on a draw. Wasn't sure what he had. Was hoping q or j. The way I played the hand allowed him to bet anything on river. I was calling any reasonable bet.

I'm probably the biggest fan of turn check behinds but even I bet this turn.

I've been trying to figure out why I checked. Maybe I had a bad feeling--don't know. But, in general, bad. Thanks.

You gave your opponent (villian) INFINITE odds to outdraw you on the river.

Correct me if im wrong, but with a potsize bet on the flop, and a call, youve already messed up his drawing odds, and if he's on a draw he's already made the mistake on the flop?

I see no point in betting the turn, youve already made him make the mistake if he's sitting on two hearts, t9 or something like that.

Am i wrong?

his implied odds. also for the purposes you are talking about the turn and flop are independent betting rounds and the ev for decisions on each round should be looked at separately.

Sure, thats true....but on the flop he has 35% chance of hitting his flush, so as long as you have the discipline to throw the hand in the muck if a heart comes, i see no problem in checking the turn. This goes if a possible open ended hits aswell.

Im not saying ill play AA everytime like this, but i dont like building big pots with just one pair on a board with many draws, or even playable hands which already have me beat.

Well, atleast Hero has position, isn't that a better spot to charge a draw?
