Default Side Pots

I need a quick clarification on side pots.

Short stack goes all in. Medium stack goes all in creating a side pot. Larger stack calls to cover main pot and side pot. Short stack wins the hand so he gets the main pot. But what happens to the side pot? Do the Medium and Large stack chop it? Or do they see who has the better hand between the two to take the side pot?

Traditionally, first you see who has the better hand between Medium and Large; the better hand gets the side pot. Then, whoever is the best between the side pot winner and Small (obviously) gets the main pot.

The concept of a CHOP in a 3-way side pot situation has ABSOLUTELY NO BASIS in poker rule theory.

You can do anything in a home game, but any game employing such a concept is not a serious poker game.
