Default Alladin S&G Warning

Just returned from Vegas and want to share some info.

Ths Alladin spreads $50+5 10 player S&G's on Sunday. I played in one and after paying and taking my seat (my bad, I know) asked the dealer what the payouts were. $360 for 1st and $90 for 2nd! That, my friends, is a $45+10 S&G (18% rake).

That's brutal. I'm staying at the Alladin next week. I hope the rake on their MTTs aren't this bad.

Yeah, the "missing" $5 actually goes to the staff, 35% to the floor and the rest to the dealer. Of course "the floor" actually means ALL the floors (including the main manager) who are full time, whether they are there or not, gone for the week on vacation, or whatever. This percentage distribution includes your tips to the dealers.

The aladdin would be better off having these as $50+$10 with $400+$100 payouts, rather than their misleading $50+$5 with $360 and $90 variety.

That is a terrible idea.
50+10 pays out 250, 150, 100 would be the same as the internet at 50%, 30% and 20%. That would be the idea payouts.

Don't know about those. I played in MTT's at the Orleans and Binions. Of the two I prefered Binion's, but that could be because I won the $100 drawing.

Be sure to walk down the strip and check out MGM. Their new poker room was outstanding. Roomy layout, good dealers, very nice tables, convienient bathrooms and food, and excellent drink service.

I'm just looking for truth in advertising.

They could do $50+5 and then an optional $5 for additional chips that goes to dealer tips. I'd be cool with that (and I imagine the dealers would be too).

I just got back from Vegas. I stopped into the Aladdin on Sunday, saw the huge line of obvious idiots looking for SnG seats, and naturally asked the supervisor about payout structure. She says, "It's $360 for first and $90 for second."

I gladly point out, "Well, that would make it $45+$10, not $50+$5. You should consider changing your sign so that it's accurate?"

"No, sir, it's $50+$5 to enter the tournaments."

"No, it isn't. $50+$5 implies that $50 per player goes in the prize pool. You just told me that the prize pool only has $450 in a 10-player tournament. That means $45 per player is in the prize pool. If you're not going to be truthful about the fee on the signs, please just post '$55 buy-in' and obfuscate the juice like everyone else."

"Sir, it's $50+$5 to enter the tournaments."

And then my head exploded.

I will say that the game was soft (but that didn't prevent me from being bubble-boy).

I agree that the juice is pretty high, and the payout structure could be better. Paying the top 3 makes sense. Hopefully, this will open the doors for other poker rooms to implement sng's, and maybe have a bit better structure.

You should see the sit+gos in AC. The taj spreads a 50+15 S+G and a 100+20 S+G. Oh, and only first place pays.

Ouch.
