Expectations for 8-tabling...
So I am a long term winner on 2/4 and have just got a 2nd 2001FP. I get 28% rakeback and average 205 hands per hour right now. What kind of expectation can I expect when I begin 8-tabling? Lower VPIP (folding more borderline calls to focus on other tables)? Lower BB/100? I am assuming that by putting in 20 true hours a week, approx 80 hours per month I can easily make the following...
28% rakeback - $980 Table profits - $1900-$2600 (1.5-2BB/100) ... (Big Bet) = $2800-$3700/mo Looking good to people? Any tips before I begin the 8-table grind? ~Justin |

Re: Expectations for 8-tabling...
how about you move up so you can get closer to the goal of making 3400 a day rather than a month.

Re: Expectations for 8-tabling...
I currently 8 table $2/$4 and make between 1.5 to 2.0 BB/100. I think I still have some room to improve. It actually didn't take that long to adjust to 8 tables. I only have one monitor, so I stack 4 on each side of my screen going up and down. Since I play on a party skin, they pop up when it is my turn to go. I have actually loosened up my play since starting to 8 table. I don't have any problems at all with the speed of the game. One tip: remember, you have 20 seconds (or so) to act before your hand is folded. Don't get into a panic b/c you have 4 tables where it is your turn to go on. Harder to learn than it sounds. I'm sure you're already familiar with the way 2/4 plays and with the number of suckouts so I'll avoid that. Kinda general advice here, but if you want something specific feel free to ask.

Re: Expectations for 8-tabling...
I think you should be making more than 2BB/100 if you want to 8 table. I didn't notice any decrease in earn rate from going from 4 to 8 however (although I've played all but 10k hands of 2/4 8tabling).

Re: Expectations for 8-tabling...
u mean making more than 2 BB/100 at 4 tables before you switch over to 8? That would definitely be reasonable. I have found that I make a few mistakes every hour or so playing 8 tables. The mistakes are marginal, and can be expected for 8 tabling. I'm hoping I can get myself to 2.5 BB/100 8 tabling $2/$4 before I move on to $3/$6. The original poster is looking for around 2.0. I believe he should be able to maintain this. What are your thoughts. Is 2.5 too high of a goal or is it attainable? For what it's worth, my first 10k hands of $2/$4 were a rush.....something like 3.5 or 4 BB/100. Too bad that didn't last...lol....

Re: Expectations for 8-tabling...
I think if you are only doing 2BB/100 4 tabling then you should improve your game before adding tables. IMO 4BB/100 is attainable as long as you aren't playing off peak hours.

Re: Expectations for 8-tabling...
I dont think I agree that 4bb/100 is horribly attainable long term.

Re: Expectations for 8-tabling...
This is absurd, sorry.
Your current BB/100 is giving you a false impression about what a good win rate is. |

Re: Expectations for 8-tabling...
I just went from 4-tabling to 8-tabling and found that I sucked at 8-tabling. I ran about 15k playing breakeven poker and I had a bad run but also made some dumb mistakes just because I'm slow and it was tough to keep up with 8 tables. I'm getting used to it now and doing much better but I'd recommend just adding a table or two at a time as opposed to jumping right into 8-tabling.
I'd also recommend checking with your rakeback site. 28% is good but I'll get 30% from mine after this month just because I'm playing so much. They may or may not work with you. But it never hurts to ask. I basically got a deal set up where if I make XXXX MGR/month I get 27%...if I make YYYY MGR/month I get 30%. And since I'm playing full time now YYYY will be no problem. I won't get it this month only because I just got set up and started playing 10 days ago. Also, find some time to workout during the day. I'm off for my run right now. It really helps. |
