Re: General Bankroll Question
[ QUOTE ]
Whats the difference between 30 buyins, or.... 10 buyins, and if you bust, 10 more buyins, and if you bust that, 10 more buyins, and if you bust that, retirement? We're talking about $55.00 here to reload... [/ QUOTE ] there is no difference.. i think it's just a mental bankroll... |

Re: General Bankroll Question
[ QUOTE ]
If you never want to buy back into site, you need 50 buy ins. [/ QUOTE ] This statement is misleading. It should read: If you want to have an X% chance of never having to buy back into a site you need 50 buy-ins. If X is a big number (say 30%) then as little as 10 buy-ins is adequate (depends on ROI). The standard formula for ROR is: ROR = e ^ (-2 x BR x WR / SD^2) Where, e = base of natural log = ~2.718282 BR = BR in buy-ins WR = ROI SD = 1.8-1.9 for most players Paul |

Re: General Bankroll Question
"Just a mental bankroll"...
If I played with a 10 buyin roll on site, I would change my play to a low variance itm-maximising strategy rather than the roi-focused one that I like to imagine myself using. To make an attempt at answering the OP I'll ask some questions of my own: *Are you confident that you are a winning player at the level in question? If not, of course you have to calculate with a bigger roll to give yourself time to adapt. *Can you afford reloading if broke? If you can, then it's mostly about how your game might be influenced by the size of your roll. Will you get careless/too careful with a big/small roll? *Are you planning to move down in limits if your bankroll decreases under your minimum bankroll? If yes, you can allow yourself a higher calculated risk of ruin since you will only play say half the downswing on the limit you started with. |

Re: General Bankroll Question
[ QUOTE ]
This makes you down 3 buy-ins.Not really a huge shock. [/ QUOTE ] It was more of a psychological shock to lose 8 buyins in a row (-$166). I never had that kind of financial swing before with the $10's and it kind of freaked me out. It's nothing really, like you mentioned, but psychologically I wasn't ready for it. That's why I want a $1000 bankroll to play the $20's (I'm at $925 now). I don't want to redeposit money again and if I fall down to $750, I'm going to start playing the $10's again until I get it back up to $1000. |

Re: General Bankroll Question
[ QUOTE ]
now i'm considering this question, I'm ready to move up as a multi player, I'm trying to decide whether or do 30,40,50 buyins... [/ QUOTE ] I recently started 3 tabling $5+.50s and deposited 300 to start (~50 buy ins). I just liked the way it looked. fortunetly, I was never below $300; and after my first 100 it is $590, so i think i will be going to the 10s after i increase my sample size to 500 (assuming i dont lose it all, lol). |
