Default Lost after turn check-raise backfires

Villain appears solid. He's 21/7/1.9 over 70 hands, and I haven't seen him do anything silly.

I thought this was a nice spot for a check-raise. Villain likes this flop, or he wouldn't be around, and I like to sometimes check-raise the turn in such spots to mix up my play a little.

Cap and bet-call the river or simply call down from here?

I can't think of many worse hands that he can reasonably CC pf with; you look like you're either tied or losing to a set after he 3-bets you. I'd c/c down.

Edit: Totally changing my response.

Call the three-bet and lead the river, calling a raise.

You are often up against a set because of the cold-call, but if the river checks through you are going to be upset. folding to a raise is really tough, but after you get three-bet on the turn I basically think it's good to just resolve to put in either 1 or 2 more bets total and let that be that.

I would call and c/c the river if it looks good.

Something tells me that you may be facing a set. He seems tight and passive, why all this aggression?

There are plenty more hands villain could have now that you are beating (all the two pair hands)

Is a solid 21/7 really going to coldcall HU with Q8, Q7, or 87? edit: or A7/A8?

True. I changed my post after I looked back at that.

I think it's fine to bet out the river, though. A passivish villain will often not raise the river with a small set here, so one bet will likely go in. And I don't want villain checking behind on the river, because that almost always means we are winning. Villain could have AK or AJ or ATs or stuff like that here. 87s is also not totally out of the question.
