Playing with modem connection
I will have to make do with a 56k modem connection for the next couple of weeks. Has anyone tried playing at Party via a good 'ole modem?

Re: Playing with modem connection
Prior to DSL being available in my area, I used a 56k modem to multitable. The speed was not an issue. I did have occasional disconnects that were eliminated when I switched to DSL.

Every day. Hate it but it's all that's available. You can multi table. Disconnects are a problem though. I probably lose enough to pay for dsl if I could get it.

Re: Playing with modem connection
I live in the sticks and have been playing on dial-up for five years. Two years ago my ISP upgraded to 56k – before that I played on 33.6. Disconnects are very rare except during stormy weather when the old phone lines around here get flaky. Poker doesn’t use much bandwidth.

Re: Playing with modem connection
I only have dial-up at home.
Works fine for me...disconnects are rare. I have more disconnect problems with the wireless at the coffee-place I go to...and sometimes have disconnects via the wireless at my Dad's. i haven't upgraded to the 21st century mostly because I just haven't gotten around to it. I can play 8 tables of party and empire if I want via the dial-up with no problems. |
