PP 40K final table hand
20+2 Entry Fee. 2403 Entrants.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20000 (10 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx BB (t427278) UTG (t349974) UTG+1 (t132786) UTG+2 (t153550) Hero (t305921) MP2 (t382210) MP3 (t80064) CO (t118904) Button (t330848) SB (t121465) Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 2 folds, UTG+2 raises to t50900, Hero calls t50900, 6 folds. Flop: (t131800) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero calls t102650. Final Pot: t234450 This was only the 3rd hand at the final table. Everyone had been extremely tight at the final 2 tables. Alternate lines? I dislike coldcalling 1/6 of my stack but really hate folding. Contemplated pushing but didn't want to run into a monster. From what I had seen didn't think anyone else would push without the goods. I guess what I am really trying to ask is coldcalling a reasonable isolation play given the dynamics of a "last longer" final table? I don't mind playing 8s against the raiser. And though I'm offering the BB great odds to enter the pot I really didn't think he would. Is this flawed reasoning? 10th pays $480; 1st pays 10k |

Re: PP 40K final table hand
With 8s I really think this is push or fold PF. You have the raiser covered twice, so even if you lose you're not in terrible shape. I'd like to hear other people's opinions here with more FT experiance. With Tens or better I'm pretty sure a push is correct, 8s and 9s get ugly though.
I think you have to push PF if you're gonna play here, b/c you can't have BB call, even if your read is that you think he'll fold. If you just call here, what kind of flop are you going to feel AT ALL comfortable with continuing on? It's going to be undercards very rarely. Given your stack, I don't think anyone totally faults a fold here either. I can't see myself doing anything but pushing that flop. If he has an overpair so be it, but you're ahead of a lot of aces here. |
