Pros & $1000/$2000 argument
Not getting too much attention in the higher stakes forum, hoping I can get some feedback from the more experienced players here.
I have a friend who has just begun playing poker and is under the impression that all pros make their money by playing $1000/$2000 games and tournaments. I explained to him that those games come around from time to time, but they are not the usual. If someone experienced could post an average month in the life of the higher stakes pro, including limits played and number of tournaments, it might be able to help settle this argument. |

$1,000/2,000 questions should be posted in the micro forum.

Re: Pros & $1000/$2000 argument
Well, $1,000/$2,000 is the norm according to my friend, maybe I'm wrong in thinking it's a very high limit, rare game...its been a micro limit game this whole time.

It's all about bankroll management. That's learned in the micros. Post it there.

"$1,000/2,000 questions should be posted in the micro forum."
This is ironically one of the truest statements made about poker, and life in general. Well done. |

Re: Pros & $1000/$2000 argument
Most of the pros, make their money grinding out a big bet an hour somewhere between 15-30, and 40-80. That makes for a reasonable standard of living.
Now, more and more of them are probably making 1 or 2 per 100 hands multitabling 10-20 and 15-30 on the internet. Some of the top names do make their money in the games that your freind thinks they do, and in tournaments. From the grapevine, it seems that a lot of the regular tournament players aren't really making a living. When you start adding up all of those $5,000 and $10,000 buyins, it takes a pretty big bankroll just to break even, not to mention to survive the fluctuations that happen in that game. |
