Default Time to build a 2+2 Home Poker FAQ!

I think it's high time we built a FAQ and had it stickied in here. We don't have to answer all the frequently asked questions in it, but there are a lot of resources (e.g. homepokertourney.com, Robert's Rules, Scott Keen's site, Chiptalk.net) that we should refer people to.

Below is a list of the kind of question we should probably address. Feel free to add more questions. Or even some answers, although I think we all know the answers to most of these questions, or at least the places to go to find the answers.

- What materials should I use for my home-built table?

- How do I start a group chip buy?

- Where can I find chip reviews?

- How many chips should I buy?

- What structure should I use for my home tourney?

- What should I do about cheaters in my home game?

- What are the rules for THIS or THAT situation in my game?

I can sorta reluctantly volunteer myself to put this together, but probably not until a couple weeks from now when my work schedule eases up a bit. If someone feels enthusiastic about this and has more time in the near future, please definitely step up.

Better you than me!

Seriously, another question that's asked all the time is "how do I deal with the LAPs or LAGs" -- perhaps a link or two to a very good thread on this (I've read several) might be in order.

I also suggest the first topic should be: what goes in this forum. This is not as bad as some forums, but I am always amazed by people who don't seem to understand the different forums, even though their names seem pretty self-explanatory to me!

Good luck!

Will do! As I said, though, it'll take a couple weeks.

You should include Robert's rules of poker for those questions like A is all in with B & C to act and he exposes his cards, or the dealer deals the turn before everyone has acted, etc, otherwise there would be no way to handle all the possible questions that may come up.

ahem, no offense anyone, but why not do this at chiptalk.net? right now there're 3 users browsing this forum, and 25 browsing chiptalk...

not a spammer, b/c i'm not selling anything. i just don't know why you'd want to pursue this line here.

To eliminate the same posts asking the same questions weekly.

I used to visit the Home Poker forum all the time, but I got tired of seeing the same old "nexgens", "paulson's", "labels", etc. question come up every day. It's like this forum was becoming the chip forum or something.

Part of the FAQ pertaining to this could link the site you have referenced.
