Default Air France Crash in Toronto

Amazingly, nobody killed. About 20 injured I think? But not in critical condition afaik.

A340 went off the runway and almost onto Highway 401...

Canada's busiest airport, Pearson International, just meters away from Canada's busiest highway, the 401. Yet this is the first major accident in over 20 years, I think. It was a pretty weird weather day here in Toronto. Hot, humid in the morning and some pretty good thunderstorms in the afternoon. The storms brought some pretty cool weather which doesn't usually happen as much as you'd think. The plane crashed after landing and braking problems plus the slick and changing weather conditions are the early reports on the cause.

Yeah I came home from work and turned on the TV and it just so happened to be on CNN. I saw a breaking news bullentin and saw a plane crash with flames coming out. Looked to the top of the corner and saw that it was from Toronto, I was like "what tha f!!" Didn't know what was going on but it seems like it was just an accident. I think everyone was fearing the worst.

Same thing, basically, happened to me. Heard it driving home but didn't catch that it was here. When I heard that the planed went into a ravine and was still burning I was expecting heavy casualties.

At least no one was seriously injured.

I remember the first time I landed at pearson. I thought the plane was gonna crash on the power lines next to the 401.

Default I Just Flew Air-France

From L.A. to Paris, within Europe, and the return trip. The crew was very conscientious on all flights. The reports I've seen is that the quick exiting of the passengers from the plane before it burst into flames was critical. Interestingly, mostly male flight attendants on the flights I was on, perhaps 75% overall.

Of course not. Who in their right mind would want to die in Canada!

Emergency personnel reached the crash site in 52 seconds. 2/3's of the people were off the plane at this point already and everyone was off in 2 minutes before the thing burst into flames. Incredible, and even more so because the plane landed in a forested ravine and two of the emergency slides failed to open correctly. 309 people, no serious injuries. Awesome. I was expecting at least 200 dead.

Yeah, we have weird laws.

You're actually not allowed to repatriate the bodies of those that die in Canada, although we've made concessions for people from the US.

Oh yeah, and how the hell do you find out about these things? Do you do stuff like watch t.v. or go outside during the day?

Must be nice.
