I would think most Party 15/30 players would call your river bet with Ace-high, which I would estimate he has 70% of the time here. If villain likes showdowns, he is probably calling you with K-high, which seems to be his only other possible holding (i.e. KQ). He could have TT as well, but he is calling you with that regardless.

Bottom line: if he will fold KQ, the river bet makes sense; if not, check/fold.

I hate your flop bet. Too many opponents on a board that is awful for you. People will have draws, and if an 8 comes you are really screwed. I would let the pfr bet it and see what happens.

i considered that but decided it was scared bad poker. i would bet a J here a lot of the time and a draw. i decided to find out for one bet what preflop raiser and other players had. when the answer came back favorably i value bet the turn. if anyone had flat called that flop id be looking for the fold button. it was a bet both for value and more for information which was worth it in a 5 way pot for a raise.

I disagree, I think the only caller is one that beats me, I check and hope for the best

That villain raised PF with 6-high. That is a lot of hoping.

The point is we're are behind here 99% of the time (and chopping the other 1%). You're hoping that he has KQ and folds, or maybe sometimes he'll even fold Ace high here (although FWIW i think a lot of players are calling with A-high). My point is our only way to win is if villain folds. he can't fold if you don't bet (well, technically he can,i have seen it before )

mike,

You played this hand perfectly. Not betting the river would be a horrible mistake as that means you are giving away the pot.

He likely has a hand like KQ or KTs or possibly AT based on the turn action so the river is a must-bet to fold out the first two.
