WSoP payout structure and strategy
Huge jump in payout from 46th-54th place (173,880) vs. 37th-45th place (235,890). That's more than 60k. The difference between the previous two levels was only 28k and the difference between the next two (higher) levels is only ~39k.
Why such a disparity when all the other levels seem to be fairly evenly displaced throughout the entire event? Is it correct that anybody who recognized this and had a short stack roughly 5-7pm EST on Wed would've benefitted from waiting to coast into the next bracket before starting the inevitable series of all-ins? It also seemed strange to me that the jump from 13th to 12th ($200k difference) is greater than the jump from 9th to 8th ($150k difference) and even stranger that the jump from 10th to 9th ($400k difference) is DOUBLE the difference between 9th and 8th place payout. (Perhaps these "abnormalities" are the result of me comparing single-place payouts with group-place payouts (e.g., [8th:9th] vs. [9th:10th-12th])? Seems abnormal. Did Harrah's screw up? Is this Tex's TEARS payout? Is the monstrous number of contestants the reason for the alleged disparities? Is anybody else intrigued by this? |
