Default ipod nano....awesome, but wtf

ok so this things sweet and i'm at work trying to copy over files....well evidently it did as i have hardly any space left, but when i click on it in itunes the lists are empty...i tried clearing them so that it'd delete teh files it had automatically copied over, but this didn't seem to remove them from the ipod....so basically the playlists seem empty but the pod seems full...anyone have this happen to them? i'm 2 seconds away from just restoring/wiping the thing and starting again...

Is this your first iPod? If so, you don't "copy" things to it. It syncs to your play lists and library in iTunes.

So:

Set iTunes up to be what you want.
Attached iPod.
Wait for the sync to happen.
Disconnect.

Your iPod should have all your music and play lists on it now.

If that fails, RTFM.

Yeah, Apple just has to be proprietary on most everything they do, and wont let you copy your own songs to it as a mounted drive, like, well, every other sane rational mp3 player out there. If you really dont want to use itunes there are other things out there, like this winamp plugin to let you sync it with winamp 5 http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=138888
