The Manchurian Candidate (1962)

[/ QUOTE ]

I just TiVo'ed this last weekend- I was STUNNED by how good it was. The first part is especially creepy. Very well done all 'round.

This just reminds me of something a friend in college used to say

When the fuvk is Angela Lansbury ever gonna die? She was old enough to play the evil mother in that film in 1962 and she is still friggen goin! She was in just about every disney movie in the 70's, did Murder she wrote in the 80's/90's and she hasn't aged in the past 30 years. she still looks like the hag she did in the 70's. I swear she found some way to stop the aging process

I definitely recommend American History X. It was awesome and I'm a big Edward Furlong fan, too (terminator 2) .

As for memento, well I think it is overrated. People were going nuts over this movie but I actually thought it was stupid when I finally got to the end. It was one of those movies where you just keep looking at the clock waiting for the end. I didn't like it to much. It was basically a typical story but they had a dumb twist to it. Yeah, the ol' play the story backward thing. Big deal.

As for movies I haven't seen and probably never will:

Star Wars: episodes 1 through ??? (none of em)
Lord of the Rings 1 through ??? (none of em)
Titanic
Mission Impossible (none of em)
irobot (will smith film)
Men in Black

I think all these movies are basically highly over rated.

My friends and I like to say "Full Metal Jacket is the best half of a movie ever made."

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. Movie reviewer Leonard Maltin says, "The first half of this movie is so strong (thanks in part to real-life former Drill Sergeant R. Lee Ermey [pictured below], that the second half suffers in comparison."

Still though, the first half makes this a "must see" IMO. At least once.

Show me your war face!

Some of these movies aren't particularly good, but your opinion's still pretty stupid.

You need to either

a) Watch a lot more movies
b) Not watch any more movies, cause they are clearly a waste of time.

While I don't necessarily agree with AFI's #1 spot, it certainly is a fantastic movie. (and no, I don't have a replacement for #1)
