Default How to create mockups?

I'm going to be ordering a custom set of Chipco's, and I have an idea of what I'd like, but I'd like to play around with it a little bit. I've seen several people post mockups for either customs or labels - what program do you use to do that? I'm not very artistic...so any easy way to mess around with something a little bit would be helpful. Thanks in advance...

But, how do you do it in Photoshop. I have Photoshop myself and have been playing around with layers and stuff. But I can't seem to figure out how to do it properly.

I'd be willing to post a .psd template if someone could get me the dimensions, basic chip blanks/frames, etc...

That would be great. However, I'm not sure what it is exactly that you need?
Something, where I can just plug in different colors on the chip would be awesome.

I'm not too clever when it comes to graphics, photoshop etc., sorry.

I'm working on my design and this is what I did. I used a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create my label designs, based on a 1" round label. I then grabbed the chip photos off the web (I'm looking at using Nexgens) and in Photoshop, merge the two to create fake photos of my new chips.

(please don't give me grief about the design, this is my first draft, and just intended as a demo of creating mock-ups).

I used nothing but photoshop for my mockups.

I too didnt know how to use photoshop well, but I played around long enough to figure out a lot of things to help me out.
Im sure illustrator would be a perfect tool as well.. but I dont have it/never used it, so I just stuck with photoshop.

You can download eval versions of both Photoshop and Illustrator from the Adobe website. I think all they want is an email addy.
