Default Re: Uber aggressive player/ what to do?

You are very frequently letting yourself get pushed off the best hand.

My guess is that you have an irrational fear of getting your money in as an underdog. This is getting in the way of taking the maniac's money. You should play hands you would quickly fold against a tight player's raise. (A maniac was pushing for a full buy-in on 60% of his hands at a NL 100 table. I called with KJo, which is easily dominated by the hands a tight player would raise and is behind any ace and any pair. The maniac had QT.)

AK is not a drawing hand. If he pushes only pocket pairs, he is only pushing 1/17 of the time, and you wouldn't describe him as so aggressive. AK is far ahead of his range. Many weaker hands than AK are ahead of his range of hands.

Don't assume he always has overcards or a higher pair when you have a middle pair. Don't assume he always has a pair when you have a big ace. Get your chips in, and you'll see the garbage he has. In case you are behind, it's not the end of the world, as you can still win. Don't be afraid to risk getting knocked out of the tournament for the chance to double up.
