I think the PC term is "African American" or "person of color". You can always change your name legally.

On a related note, I really hate the term "African American", it only works in the US. What exactly do Americans call blacks outside the US? African-English? African-French? It's stupid and pretty insular.

I'm saying that "African American" isn't an equivalent term to "black", because there're lots of black people who are not african american. Yet the terms are interchangeable to a lot of people.
