GREAT check on the river by the Dwarf to induce the-aggressive Meatbluff.

Fold for $200 more?? 'No I won't do that!'....

[/ QUOTE ]

Tourney Director: "It's $200 to you, Meatloaf."

Midget: "Stop right there! I gotta know right now, before we go any further...will you call me? Will you call on the river?"

Meatloaf:"Let me sleep on it! Midget, midget, let me sleep on it!
Let me sleep on it! I'll call on the river in the morning!"

Midget: "I gotta know right now!"

[/ QUOTE ]

Too Funny........... awesome post.

Phil Gordon said Meatloaf's fold was insanely bad. I thought it was pretty straightforward, even for 200.

Thoughts?

I've seen a few episodes of Celebrity Poker, and I've seen these guys mis-read their hands (or the board) a few times. Probably not as high as 1% of the time, but it's stictly > 0%. Throw in that it only costs $200 to find out what this guy would check-raise all-in on the river (when a flush scare card hits), and that your tournament EV goes up more from winning a ~13k pot than it goes down from losing another $200, and I can't see how it's even close? Maybe in a cash game it's a fold, but in a tournament filled with celebrities, how is this anything other than a call? I mean, did you see the episode with the lead singer of Creed? He thought 4 cards made a straight, and KJo on a ragged board was somehow the nuts..

that dude was OBVIOUSLY stoned to the gills. Or something stronger. I'm thinking maybe acid? His pupils looked a little dialated. This is the game I play when I stop flipping and land on this show... "what substance are they wasted on?" ..

As an intermediate player who regularly plays against other beginning and intermediate player, I find his commentary useful. It reinforces betting fundamentals, basic tells, and helps me figure out how bad players play and how to play against them. I won't go out of my way to watch it, but when I do I think Phil is the best part of the show.

Dwarf checks trip tens. Meatloaf bets 3k. Dwarf checkraises all-in for 3200.

So I guess that would make him the short stack?

I agree wholeheartedly. And after a few seasons his "stiffness" seems to be going away and he actually has a decent rapport with Foley now. I enjoy watching this show for some mid-level mindless entertainment.
