Default Bad push or bad luck?

$10+1.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (6 handed) converter

Hero (t655)
UTG (t1565)
MP (t875)
CO (t1355)
Button (t2185)
SB (t1365)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP calls t100, 1 fold, Button calls t100, 1 fold, Hero checks.

Flop: (t350) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, MP checks, Button checks. (I almost pushed here thinking the flop likely missed everyone and as the BB it could have hit me, either with a pair or giving me a straight draw.)

Turn: (t350) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets t555 (All-In), MP folds, Button calls t555.

River: (t1460) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t1460

Results in white below:
Hero has Qs 6h (one pair, queens).
Button has Qh 8d (one pair, queens).
Outcome: Button wins t1460.

Lately I've been having trouble deciding between aggression and patience when its 5-6 handed and I'm the short stack.

I'm saying bad push. It's 6 handed. I would say 4 handed or less, it wouldn't be bad, though. I'm not saying that I wouldn't have made the same mistake, though. That's such a marginal hand that you really don't want to risk your tourney on it especially when you are in the BB.

I wouldn't have pushed here. You likely have the best hand, but you don't want any action with it. If you get called here you are definately behind, no? If you want to push-buy this pot, it should have been done on the flop I think. After checking once people will rarely give you credit for a good hand imo.

I check, and if someone bets I'll likely call, and then do the same on the river. If you get pushed into on the turn, I fold.

I play it the same way. Check the flop, push the turn. Most of the time you'll be ahead, and those 350 chips will look awfully nice in your stack.
