Default Party Poker BJ Tournament

According to the leaderboard a guy wagered 17,500 homeruns which is 1.75 million dollars over a 3 day period. How much you think partypoker made of this guy?

He wins 200,000 right?

Assuming perfect play...that's a 0.6307% house advantage

(1,750,000 x -.006307) + (200,000) = 188,692.75

In the green :-D

i believe all he wins is a 5000$ entry to another bj tourney and a cruise package.

lol, I thought this was going to be a post about an actual tournament. I can only imagine that the guy who wins comes through by betting the smallest amount possible every time.

In a BJ tourney, can you not bet? I think that would be optimal strategy on Party.

From what I understand there is a decent amount of strategy in Blackjack Tourneys and there is always a minimum bet.

Yep in a big blackjack tourney the winner is gonna be the guy who sits on his starting chips and never makes a bet, because BJ is a -EV game and you always lose!

Some people are really smart in this forum. That's all I've got to say.

Next time you see someone coloring up into purples at the blackjack table kindly remind them that if they could have gone back in time the most +EV activity they could have been doing while sitting at the table would have been not playing. I'm sure they'll appreciate the tip and see if the casino wants their 5 grand back.

I haven't looked at the promotion...but I don't think it's a BJ tourney that's ON Party. They are giving away packages to a cruise/BJ tourney.

It is correct that there is MUCHO strategy in a regular, big BJ tourney. Very different from a poker-tourney.

It would not be a winning strategy to bet the minimum on each round.

The last couple of hands there is some very tricky math involved at times regarding bet-size and playing decisions.
You aren't just trying to get the most chips and beat the dealer....there are times you actually would want to LOSE the hand (if you have $5 bet and your main opponents have $5000 bet).

Stanford Wong (blackjack card-counting pioneer) wrote a very good book on casino-tournament strategy (BJ, craps and 3-card-poker tourneys, etc etc).

I know only a little about BJ tourneys, but I've played in a few so I'm vaguely familiar with what happens in them.
I'm not pursuing this promotion though (haven't read it yet actually...so maybe I'll see something that I think is +EV after reading the terms for the promo...but I doubt it).
