Default High Limit Poker Rooms in Vegas

Just wondering if there are any seperate side rooms in vegas casinos and what sort of games/action they offer.

Do they have huge blind/ante structures?

Are they only open on select days when they're in demand?

I know for a fact about a sectioned off area in the belliago cardroom, curious to know if there are any others, maybe more so hidden and unknown?

[/ QUOTE ] I haven't been to the Palms since a month or two after they opened the poker room. So, my information could be outdated.

Their "high limit" room consisted of a couple capped 1/2 NLH tables and maybe a 10/20 limit HE game. The low limit side has 2/4 and 4/8 limit.

I am not sure of the limits. I do know they have a room upstairs.

Last time I was at the Golden Nugget, they had a 5/10PL game "in the back". That was close to a year ago.

The room being referred to at the Palms is not what the poster is asking in my opinion. The Palms "high limit poker room" is across the passageway to the restrooms. This room was originally a keno room. Prior to the big boom in poker. The Palms needed more poker room so they closed this keno room and made it the "high side". Generally speaking it's just 2-5nl and 5-10 nl. Thats not high limit.

There is really only 1 real "side room" in LV. It's called "Bobbys Room" at the Bellagio. This room was built this year as part of Bellagios' poker room expansion. It is within the walls of the poker room, two tables, no less than $100,000 buy-in for this room. Usually 1 table going, 4-6 days a week, playing $2k-$4k limit mixed games.

the mix generally is: HE, Stud/8, Omaha/8, 2-7 triple draw, 7 card stud. Depending on the players they throw in NLHE, Pot limit Omaha occasionally, and even NL A-5 or 2-7 triple draw lowball.

The players: Jennifer Harmon, Doyle, Chip reese, Johnny Chan, Phil Ivey, Chau Ghiang, Eli, and David(french guy dont know there last names) and Larry Flint was in there last week.

Generally speaking this room goes unless the players are out at some sort of major event elsewhere.

The room is available anytime the players are there to play. It isnt just a sectioned off area. It's a room within the room, glass doors and walls.

If you looking for that secret hidden room you see in movies on tv, fergit about it. This is the day of surveilance and marketing.

Are you looking to play or "just curious"? If it's the former, then buy in for the $200 NL game at Bellagio and meander by Bobby's room now and then to star gaze. It's pretty cool to see the big names and their stacks.

If you want a crack at playing with a star, go for the $600 min. no max. buy-in NL at Bellagio. I played in that game the night after David Williams was in it (I was on the $200 game that night).

You'll be in the same room w/ Sklansky, Fishman and the likes. They were there the same night I played. Very approachable.

Good luck.

I headed over to the Palms to meet a couple people (we were playing in a couple of the tournaments they were running in that convention-room thing through July).

Walked into the 'high-limit' room and asked what was open.
"2/5 NL...$100 min buy-in...$500 max."

I almost spit my soda out my nose at the concept of being able to sit in a 'high-limit' room for only $100.

But it is 'higher' than the 'main' room where they were spreading mostly 2/4 and 4/8 limit.
