I understand that it would be "going against the table", but isn't it a long term winner to bet the "Don't Pass" line once a point is made? Especially if the point is a 4, 5, 9, or 10 where the edge on rolling a 7 is quite large?

[/ QUOTE ]

It's also a long term winner to place your roulette bets after the ball has stopped, but the house won't let you do that either.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's certainly been done. Many teams in the past have placed bets after the fact and gotten away with it. There's also the move of taking back larger bets (after they lose) and replacing them with smaller bets. These don't work too well anymore after being exposed in a few books.

[/ QUOTE ]

These moves will also get you arrested if you get caught. Capping and pinching bets and past posting are cheating, pure and simple.

Folks, Ed was joking. Sheesh

Very true. I didn't mean to imply that these moves were kosher by any measure. You'll find yourself in federal pound me in the ass prison if caught doing this enough.

how about your option to move your don't pass bet to the pass line if a point you like is then established? (i.e. 6,8) i've seen people do that - just wondering how it works - if you can just do it yourself or you need to call it out to the dealer on your side

Default You can do that all day!

Wow, never seen that one done. I assume you would alert the dealer and have them do it, they probably don't like people moving bets around on the layout themselves.

BUT they should have no problem with it. The House Advantage is all in the come out roll on the Don't Pass. Once a point is established, the player then has an advantage. Likewise, the opposite is true of the Pass bet. The Player has the advantage on the come out, and the House has the advantage once the point is establihed.

So by moving your bet, you took the risk of the come out on the Don't Bet, now you have the advantage, and are moving your bet to a house advantage bet, having avoided having the advantage on it during the come out!

If you do this regularly, the house should have a special cocktail waitress to do nothing but make sure you have all the free drinks you need.

What they are really doing is excercising their option to remove a don't pass bet at anytime. They can remove it and put it in their rack, in their pocket, on the waitress's tip tray, in the dealers toke drop or make any other bet on the table. I suppose they could also throw it across the casino but I'm not sure how many times you could get away with that one unless you were a very high roller.

Default Points You Like

If there are "points you like", why play the back? You can save a lot of time simply by buying behind the points you don't like, and placing the ones you do like. Try not to confuse liking a point with a lucky point -- they are completely different things. A lucky point will occur if you place it, and not occur if you're behind. Points that you like, on the other hand, may go either way. The trick here is to only like lucky points. This concept is so simple, yet very few people can master it -- and even then, only for short periods of time. I would start out by buying behind the 4-5-9-10 and making a similar size place bet on the 6 and 8. If the hand comes out something like 6-8-6-7 -- that means you're doing it right. If the hand looks like 10-4-9-5-7, you're doing it wrong. The information I'm giving you is only the numbers that some people like -- you may not like these, or find that other numbers are lucky on any particular day. Keep good notes, and you should find a pattern that works for you. Good luck!

BTW- If you're going to move bets, try moving lucky numbers from the back to the front. When you're comfortable with this move, then practice moving numbers you like to coincide with the lucky ones. Always give instructions for moving a bet to the boxman -- if he's busy, call it across to the dealer on the other side or to the stickman. This way there are always at least two people who can acknowledge your requests. If you fail to call your bets like this, and this system works for you -- the sky is going to send security to get both you and the dealer.
