Default Living in Las Vegas

I will be moving to Las Vegas in a few days. I have a place to stay short term, and will be finding a room to rent and a job hopefully - and playing in the casinos.
Any helpful advise for a soon to be transient? I have only been to Vegas once, a year ago when I stayed at the IP.

I am 24, and a college graduate, I have been working in food service for a while, and need change - so I am packing up my car in Michigan, and driving till I get to Vegas.

sounds like you could have better plans on where to live.. but good luck... you may stress out with that poker though, especially if your BR is low which it sounds like

That sounds like a well thought out plan. What could possibly go wrong?

craigslist is your friend for finding housing, and possibly even for a job.

If you're planning on working for a casino, i hope you haven't made the mistake of smoking pot in the last 3-4 months.

You don't want to live in Nellis.

I don't have much of a bankroll, but it isn't about poker.

It is about changing my life patterns, getting a bit of adventure in before going back to school.

and I didn't know the best forum to post this in...

Check out the UNLV off campus housing locator for roomates/ cheap housing as well as craigslist.
Do not live in North LV or central.

You'll be fine. I packed up all my stuff in a little car and moved here with $400 to my name. I've been here 6 years and my life couldn't get much better than it is right now. Mind you, I had 2 bicycles stolen, my car broken into 4 times, had 3 tires blow out (2 at one time - that was scary!), been fired about 5 times... this is becoming a christmas song...
But seriously, my life couldn't be better right now. I am on top of the world!

what do you consider central? im assuming right near the strip...

btw - vegas is full of those white dirty bum looking types. blue collar workers who go from here to there barely making it by. my advice would just to be don't live near them - ive only seen them in casinos & not where they live - thank god [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
