Default Europe trip

This summer a friend and I are going to explore Europe. We have 1 month rail passes and are starting in southern Italy. First time there for both of us. How would you design your itinerary?

Depends on how long your rail passes are. If you hadn't locked yourself into that, I'd say after Italy hop a quick flight to Budapest, then head back west through Prague and into Germany.

Something I didn't do but you might be able to get more info on: I lived in southern Germany for over half a year, and heard about an interesting trip you could take. I don't remember where it started, but it was a 2 week or so boat trip down the Danube River. You start in Germany somewhere (if it didn't start in Regensburg, it went through there) and float down the river all the way to Budapest, making various stops along the way. Sounded very cool.

In case you can't tell, I much prefer Eastern Europe over Western, and not just because of exchange rate issues.

Rome, Venice, Bologna goot. Rome very goot. Florence smelly, but some ppl love it, especially those who like classical art. Verona boring.

Paris very goot. Amsterdam goot.

Will say more tomorrow. Tired now.

I'd love to check out Eastern Europe too but most of the countries unfortunately do not support the Eurail pass so I think we will save EE for another trip.
