Satellites to play with Phil Hellmuth
One of the intramural sports offered by Madison this year is Texas Hold 'Em. There are a total of nine satellites, each with up to 64 players. The winner of each satellite will get to play at a final table with Phil Hellmuth.
I played in the second satellite tonight (I had missed the previous one) and I am looking for advice in this situation. The overall skill of the players is pretty poor--had my aces not been cracked by big slick, I probably would have had a good shot at making the final table. My question is this: since I can play in up to seven more satellites (there's no fee), how should I alter my strategy? Should I be more willing to enter coinflip situations? Any other tips would be helpful. I should also add that the blinds increase ridiculously fast. We started with T350 and the blinds increasing every 25 minutes, starting at 5-10, then increasing to 10-20, 25-50, and then doubling thereafter. Another problem is that since the players have to deal the cards themselves the blinds are increasing almost every orbit. Thanks in advance. |
