i hate it when i write a check and either the person doesn't cash it, or takes a long time to cash it. the money ends up in limbo.

You should tell people if you're not going to cash their checks. Maybe take her out to dinner with it or something? The problem if you just don't cash it is that she doesn't know when you might or might not cash it, so she can't use the money for quite awhile.

Why wouldn't you cash it...free money baby. Also to the person that you didn't want to give the wrong idea to, accepting a birthday present from someone doesn't give them the wrong idea, refusing to take the gift is more mean than helpful.

I have some aunts that still send me checks sometimes on birthdays or christmas or whatever. I never cash the checks.

Don't you think that's rude?

I know it might seem to you like it's a good gesture not to cash their checks, but...

How would you feel if you thought enough of someone to give them a present and they told you that they're going to throw it out or never use it?

What is the purpose/existence of a check? To transfer money from one to another. Meaning they set aside a piece of cash in their bank for it? So unless its like under $20 and there's a story behind the checkwriter, why would you not cash it?

Endorse it over to another girl and have her deposit it into her account, paying you in cash. Be sure to ask this 2nd girl to add some of her perfume to the check. When the cancelled check returns the original chick will never send you another check. Problem solved.....

I love it how people who don't own a TV will take every opportunity to tell you that fact. Believe me, the fact that you don't own a TV doesn't make people respect you, or think that you're special or intelligent. If anything, it makes people think you're pretentious.

There was a good article in The Onion about this awhile ago.
