Default Trips against potential flush/ straights

Brand new here, so be gentle if I screw up the coding (or more likely, screwed up playing the hand!)

Party poker, .5/1 limit, 9 handed

Hero: in CO w/ A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG folds, UTG+1 limps, as do UTG+2, MP1, and MP2. I limp, Button limps, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop (7 SB)
7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

SB, BB check, first player bets, next 3 call, I raise, button calls, SB and BB fold, next four all call.

Turn: (9.5BB) 6 players
T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Everyone checks to me, I bet, all call except for UTG +1 who folds.

River: (14.5 BB) 5 players

6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

All check to me, I check, Button bets, next player calls, next folds, next calls, I call.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance for the help everyone.

What was your intent with this raise? Since there are three callers, you probably don't have the best hand. However, the pot is big enough for you to try to hit a good card to catch up. Calling is a much better play.

I would have bet the river, and called a raise. It would be bad for someone holding something like J8 to take a free showdown, when they would have paid off your bet.

Read a few hand posts, and try to respond to them. It's okay if your advice is wrong. This practice will help you learn to identify the right and wrong plays.

I would raise pf, call the flop, raise the turn and bet the river.
