I'd bet/call the turn. If he just calls, I'd bet/call a non-[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] river. If he raises the turn, I'd check call the river. A-high is a good hand against this guy. He's seeing basically every SD.

I think it depends on the aggression of this guy...for an idiot like this the ag-factor isn't going to get you too far (unless it's a ridiculous number like 0.4 or 5.1) but you need to have SEEN if I bets strongly with bottom-pair, or does he routinely call the flop when he makes top pair.

If he has ALWAYS raised with top or 2nd pair then you can start making assumptions that only calling on the flop means that he probably whiffed.

Does he raise his flush-draws?? We don't know.


It's easy to say all this stuff after you see that he checked the river though....but when he checks the turn I there's a good chance that you might have read from previous hands that betting out with your ace-high could have some value.

But, then again, if he's prone to crazy river raise bluffs...AND if you think you could induce a bluff attempt from him by just checking and letting him try to take it with his 82o UI then there could be some value to checking.


I'm just thinking out loud here and will be interested in other opinions...but he almost always calls down even when he has nothing...and more often than not on a paired-board your ace-high will actually be good over his any-two that he has taken no initiative with.

Well, the thing is, I was watching this guy for about an hour before sitting down (long waiting list) and his play was still a mystery to me even after watching for so long. He seemed to act at random almost. He'd cold-call the river J-high against two players, but he would also fold the flop for 1 sb sometimes. He'd go crazy on the turn and river with nothing, with a big hand, with a marginal hand, or he'd check-call the entire hand with top pair. His play made no sense to me.

His AF Total was 1.45 (forgot to put it in my original post) FWIW.

EDIT: the plan at the time was to call both streets against him unless a spade hit but I was a little scared of getting raised on the turn so I didn't bet. In hindsight I think betting until something happens against this type of guy is correct.

I'm curious about his aggression stats. I'd follow up on the turn and bet.
