I don't see what we're ahead of by the river given that villian raised it pre-flop. Bet the turn. I think villian wanted to check-raise the turn and is now afraid of losing a bet on the river. In short, I think he's hoping you call. Fold.

Given that, I'd still bet the turn, but I'm more inclinded to call his river bet when you checked behind.
