Re: Two hands from the book MidLimitHP
LOL, you're Bob Ciaffone? If you're the real Bob I just lost all respect for you. If you're not, that was really funny. I'm pretty sure you're not.
If you are for real - you're still a fool. Not every example in your book is 100% correct. Debating stuff like this is how you get better, that's the entire point of the book, right? Thinking deeply about the examples. Whatever. |

Re: Two hands from the book MidLimitHP
Despite the weak-tightness present throughout that book, I happen to think he's correct in both hands. When you get called in 3 spots, even by loose players, it's probably time to give up top pair, no kicker. In the second hand, you might as well bet out. Overpairs probably won't raise, but top pair or a draw might take a free card.

Re: Two hands from the book MidLimitHP
According to HEPFAP, 99 and TT are fine limping hands if the game is moderatly tight or tough. They are not autoraise hands in this game so I put them in the realm of possibility of holdings of my opponent.

Re: Two hands from the book MidLimitHP
In case you missed it, in the first hand, we have Top & Bottom pair. Not just top pair. You can very easily be ahead after getting called in 3 spots on flop.

Re: Two hands from the book MidLimitHP
this is one thing I don't really understand about HPFAP. how does limping up front in a tough game make things better than raising? it only increases the chances you're out of position without initiative. at least if you're 3-bet, you know you're looking at a legitimate hand and can play accordingly. if you limp and are raised, it could easily be a light isolation raise by someone who knows you're a tight player who will fold his AJo or KQo on teh flop if he missses.
