10/20 nl 3 handed calling station makes a river check raise
ok so villain in this hand is a calling station. a littl ewhile ago he correctly called me down with middle pair for 3 bullets. i have tightened up considerably but i doubt he has noticed... and a few hands ago he incorrectly called with middle pair for 3 bets and lost a bit of money.
For some reason the converter isn't working so I'm doing this manually. Hero (2078) Villain (1575) I have A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], I make it 55 on the button. Villain calls from BB. Flop (120): 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain checks, hero bets 75, villain calls. Turn (270): 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain checks, hero bets 175, villain calls. River (620): 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Villain checks, hero bets 400, villain lets the time expire... at this point I'm sure i've got him and he's going to call but I'll take it... then all of a sudden... Villain is all in for 1270 total, 870 more. What do you make of this? I know heads up is hard to read but I was so thrown off by this, I'm just looking for input. |

I don't think you can call this. He has a 5 or sometimes a 9.

the range i thought i was getting value from: a worse 7, 66, or A high. Initially, I didn't think he'd check his boat to me, then I saw the check raise and had to rethink things.

ok thanks. what did you show when he incorrectly called you with middle pair? does he know you'll bet a 7 here?

Re: 10/20 nl 3 handed calling station makes a river check raise
I dont know if i can fold this. This is a very weird situation. I have trouble putting him on anything here. Def not a 9..very lil chance of a 5 (why would he check a nine here? he has no reason to believe hero is gonna bet after being called twice. A 5 he might check call..no way he CR's it given that he is a calling station)
Villain's line confuses me so much, i have trouble putting him on anything maybe a pair that got counterfeited. Prolly not AK but a smaller ace is def possible i think.More than likely this is one of those occassions when a bad calling station says to himself cuz uve been beating up on him..."i cant take it anymore" and goes postal. I call because I am confused, thats what i do when it just doesnt add up in the heat of battle. |

[/ QUOTE ] If he's a calling station that will call you down with middle pair, I don't think he's going to try a super-delayed bluff on the river. I think it's a lot more likely that he was calling down with a 5 and hit the river or that he was slowplaying a 9. Bad players will often wait until the river to reveal their slowplayed monster. |

Re: 10/20 nl 3 handed calling station makes a river check raise
him being as you describe, my best guess would be that he had something along the lines of 8/9 of clubs. it would seem in line with his preflop and flop play.
and even his turn and river play, to me, would be consistant with a calling station type of player. |
