anyway, i hear about these crazy deals, spend $1500 and get $750 off.. that's what i want baby! how often do these come around? anyone have any expert suggestions? i really only wanted to spend like 12 or 13 hundred, but if i could wait a little while and get a $1500 one for $750... uh... i think i would like that [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

That would probably be with no upgrades.

There is a coupon for $750 off of $1999 so it would be in your price range with some nice upgrades.

Sorry missed the desktop part. Sometimes they have coupons for $400 off of desktops.

Those are laptop coupons though, daryn is looking for a desktop. Daryn, Dell seems to run a lot of $750 off $1500 deals on thier laptops but last weeks $750 off $1500 was the first ive seen for desktops. They did run one a few months before that which was like 40% off any price. If you want to go all out on a desktop wait for that one. I was able to get a great machine (pretty heavily upgraded) for $687 during this last deal.

Note: The media center edition is pretty dang cool, I highly reccomend it.
I say you have 2 options
1) wait a few months for the next deal
2) check the dell refurb section. They are hit or miss deals but generally pretty good prices and usually the only refurbing they do is reselling them for a lower price cause somebody cancelled thier order.

Wow, that's pretty sweet for that price.

Daryn, were you just going to use the computer for poker, surfing the web, and other light usage? I just got a 4700 on the $750 off $1500 deal last week. Its obviously less powerful than the one listed above: 2.8GHz, 80GB HD, etc, but all I'm really using it for is poker, and its got plenty of horses for that. Instead of bumping the price of the desktop up to $1500, I just made a couple changes to get it to about $1000 and then got a 2005FPW with it. After taxes, I figure I ended up paying about $350 for the desktop.

If you're looking for a monitor first, and a desktop that's mainly for poker second, this is the only way to go. If I remember correctly, Dell's end of first quarter is right around now, and the speculation was that the crazy deals were coming out because they were trying to bump revenues.

just entered them all in one after another. Dell home coupons usually stack. Wish I could have found a $150 off big bucks coupon instead of just the $30 off that I had, that would have made the deal even better.

things i want: 3.0 ghz, 1 gb ram, 256 mb vid card, dual drive dvd dvd+/-r .. that's about it i think. i don't need a monitor because i have a few of those 2001fp's lying around.
