Default Who likes this passiveness?

Villian (other pfr) is solid.

Hero is UTG+2 and has K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Preflop: UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, Hero Raises, all folds to MP3 who calls, SB re-raises, all folds to UTG+1, where everyone calls.

Flop: K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

SB bets, UTG+1 calls, Hero raises, all fold to SB who calls, UTG+1 calls.

Turn: A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

SB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero checks.

River: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

SB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, SB calls, UTG+1 folds.

This does smell like a check-raise. Now that you picked up a gutshot it would suck to pay two bets for the river when you could have seen it for free.

Play looks ok to me.

I dunno about checking this turn. Villain could also have QQ or JJ and I wanna make him pay on all streets to see a showdown. I just think theres more value in betting this turn

since villain is solid, then I would narrow down his 3-betting hands from the sb to AA, kk,qq,jj,AK.
Since villain slowed down on the flop, I put him on JJ or QQ, most likely QQ because you already have a jack.
I would bet the Turn. And check behind if UTG+1 stays in the hand by the river.(But I tend to be weak on the river sometimes)

QQ, JJ. hmm.. forgot to consider those. I guess it depends how tricky/aggressive villian is then. Getting check-raised still does suck, you have to admit, because you'll still have to call it.

Giving UTG+1 a free card sucks even more IMO. Maybe a good play heads up, but not multiway.

Exactly which free card are we afraid of giving?

UTG+1 might have 5 outs yet might fold his hand to a turn bet. It'd blow to let him see the river free and improve if he would've folded the turn. I'm not sure how big the pot is as I'm too lazy to figure it out, OP should've posted the size on each street, but I think it's pretty big by now and we don't want to be passive multiway.

Allright, this whole thing makes sense now.

Do you think 'not letting people get a free card' outweighs the possibility of putting dead bets into this pot?
