Default A9s flops flush draw - how should villain have played?

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
Hero calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, 4 folds, BB checks.

Flop: (4.50 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, BB folds.

Turn: (3.75 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG+1 raises, MP1 3-bets, Hero caps, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls.

River: (15.75 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG+1 raises, MP1 calls, Hero 3-bets, UTG+1 caps, MP1 calls, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 27.75 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has 9h Ah (flush, ace high).
UTG+1 has 7h 6h (flush, queen high).
MP1 has Kh 8h (flush, king high).
Outcome: Hero wins 27.75 BB.

I'm pretty satisfied with my own play; it has to be -EV to slow down with an A high flush although a straight flush is possible on the river, right?

What I was thinking about is the play from MP1, can he fold anywhere in this hand and keep his sanity? UTG+1 just seems nuts in my book, but I can see myself in a position similar to MP1's.

If you are considering slowing down on the river with the 2nd nuts then that is really, really bad.

You have the Ace. That means the only hand that beats you here is 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] . The chances of someone hitting their one outer against you on the river are quite small.

When I get action like this I immediately think that I am up against a smaller flush. Without a paired board you have to go to war on the turn and river.

Do NOT fear the straight flush. It is such a minute possibility, and the ultimate case of seeing monsters under the bed.

And yes, it is most definitely -EV to not cap the turn and river on this board.

Nice hand.

Wow, UTG+1 _is_ nuts. I think as MP1 though, I gotta call the first two on the river, and probably couldn't help but call the last. It's a big pot, and it's 'only' two bets. Had 3 bets come in at once (impossible in that layout) I think you can resonably fold it.

(Disclaimer - I suck)

If I'm UTG+1 I fold the river.

The turn raise from UTG+1 also feels a tad too aggressive. But that's just me.

Well played. I'd do the same thing on all streets.

Be sure to add UTG+1 to your buddy list

No comments on MP1's line? I think he's the one facing the tough decisions.

MP1 missed a flop raise. He should have lost more.

MP1 played it fine-- he had a good idea of what he was up against on the river, but had the misfortune of being in the hand with UTG+1 who fell in love with his 2nd anti-nut flush and made things very expensive for him.

I agree - I raise the flop with TP and 2nd nut flush draw here.
