Default Mid Pairs (Tourney Play)

I hope someday I won't need to preface my posts on this forum with "I'm new to O8 H/L" but I am so here goes...

Low Limit SnG
Blinds 50/100
Full table of 10

8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I'm in MP with a few limpers to me, what's my line please?

Kev,

This hand doesn't do much for me.

With 10 players at the table, you are going to have some better lows...and you are going to have some better highs (bigger high pairs).

Could you make a decent hand out of this? Sure. But you have 4 outs to a full house or better and those are not very good numbers.

Position plays an important part for me seeing this hand for the flop.

Later in the tournament I might use this hand to try and steal some blinds, but not early on.

But, the vast majority of time...it's in the muck.

Dave

Dave,

Great reply, thank you. I let this hand go but this has happened to me a few times (mid-double pairs) early in tournaments and I wanted to make sure I was playing it correctly.

I really like your comment about position with this hand and I will keep that in mind especially when attempting to steal blinds. I think that is the one thing I bring from NL that helps my O8 game.

Thanks again,

Kev

Kev - Fold. The best hand you could think of that have four middle cards is a poor starting hand.

Don't play hands with four middle cards, paired or not, double suited or not.
