I tip a buck when I play 30/60. am i supposed to tip 1/8th of a bet, like $1 is in a 4/8 game?

[/ QUOTE ] i guess i was just utterly shocked by how the dealer reacted. in my experience, most dealers at Canterbury are pretty cool. to hear of one of them being so overtly cockish just amazed me. i guess it just adds further justification to my theory that most people should be killed.

That's called overhead. Some people pay rent and employees. Cost of doing business. No dealers no poker rooms, you'd be out of a job. At least these employees you don't have to provide the health insurance.

This is so silly. Why report it? Why argue with the guy? He doesn't want his tips, you just nod, say "ok" and don't bother any more. Maybe say something like "let me know when you start taking them." and let it go.

I did the same. At CP, the standard tip is a buck at every game, unless the pot is large ($2), the player is drunk ($0-5) or the player is an off-duty dealer ($2-3). I recognize the dealer who did this by his description. He is a surly fellow, and slthough a very technically competent dealer, he makes the game less enjoyable. Like being a waiter, helping the customer have a pleasant experience is part of the job. Next time he deals, I think I'll toss him an orange after every pot.
